A five day course for the complete beginner. You need no prior knowledge for this course and you will get to find out what life aboard a sailing yacht is all about. The aim of the course is to turn you into a useful and valuable crew member.

You will learn basic seamanship, boat safety, sea terms, sails, rope work, fire precautions, safety, man overboard, distress, dinghies, weather, rules of the road helmsmanship and sailing.

At the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day-to-day routines on board.

Itinerary

• Join the yacht, meet the crew and receive basic safety briefing.
• Man overboard exercises and sail changing.
• Engine manoeuvre, berthing practice and navigation.
• Day and night sailing.
• Practice drills.
• Final sail and presentation of certificates.

Gibraltar / Estepona.

Essential Information
All accommodation on board is in shared cabins. Hot showers and toilets are available on board. Your skipper will make stops at marinas en route where additional facilities are available. Breakfast and lunches are included in the cost of your experience. You will be ashore for evening meals at your own expense. If you have any specific dietary requirements then you may wish to bring your own additional provisions.

What to wear
It is recommended to bring a hat, sunscreen, lip balm, comfortable clothing for 4 days and long trousers and long sleeved shirts for men for dinner on land. Please wear non-slippery footwear on the boat at all times. Your toes must be covered.
The holds in the cabins are small; please make sure you carry hand luggage (hard suitcases are not suitable).
