‘Chukkas’, ‘hand sticks’, ‘riding off’, ‘hooking’…all words you’ll be completely familiar with after a day spent learning to play Polo! Learning this exciting sport with fully qualified instructors will have you delving into sporting history spanning over 2,500 years. You’ll start off being briefed on the basic rules and theory of polo and you will be given plenty of time to practice ball hitting, polo riding, hooking and riding off!
The polo ponies are well schooled and there will be an instructor by your side at all times. After a light lunch you will mount your ponies in your polo gear and then it’s time to put what you’ve learnt into practice as you play an instructional “chukka,” a game of polo.
Fast-paced, skilful and with the fantastic sound effect of thundering hooves, polo is a great sport to play and to watch.
At the end of your day you will be given a certificate of achievement. Please be aware that polo can be a very additive sport and an experience you will want to taste again and again.

11:30-12:30 Polo Field (chairs) - nearside shots and offside shots
12:30-14:30 Lunch break
14:30-15:00 Stables - tacking up for polo
15:00-16:00 Polo Field - polo riding with ponies – the half seat Ball skills – forehand tap
16:00-16:30 Polo field - instructional Chukka/s
16:30-16:45 Meeting room - refreshments
16:45-17:00 Meeting Room - recap on day’s topics with any questions, followed by Presentations.

Essential Information
This experience is suitable for all ages and riding abilities.
Duration
7 hours. Please arrive at 10:00 to begin your two hour lesson promptly at 10:30.
Number of participants
There are normally 4 – 6 participants per instructor.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome at the club and can watch play from the grandstands. Dogs are allowed, provided they are well behaved and kept on a lead.
What to wear
Dress comfortably. Wear jodhpurs if you have them. Bring riding boots or a pair of substantial shoes or boots with a low, solid heel (no high heals!), a pair of thin leather or cotton gloves and a riding hat. If you do not have some of these clothing items, do not worry as they can be supplied.
